DAMON PACKARD

SOME QUOTES ON PACKARDS WORK:

“Every once in a while, a filmmaker comes along that captures our complete attention. This time around, that filmmaker is Damon Packard. He’s been making films for over twenty years, but it was his nightmarish Reflections of Evil that made us sit up and take notice. Reflections of Evil is one of the most unique indies we’ve ever seen. It’s unpredictable, inventive, hilarious, disturbing, it’s the kind of film you can’t believe you’re seeing while you’re watching it and once it’s over it’s hard to watch anything else because of the major impact it has left on you...love it or hate it. Now, Damon has recently finished his Untitled Star Wars Mockumentary and it’ll be one of the funniest things you’ll ever see, love or hate the Star Wars prequels. It's been Packard Mania over here at Film Threat HQ” FILMTHREAT

“As far as all your references to Speilberg, fuck it, you're way more interesting and intense than that fuckin guy."- Henry Rollins

"Yo--Watched the movie. Wow! What a trip!! I personally loved it. Laughed my ass off a couple of times. But I don't know if it's supposed to be funny? Why haven't I seen this on the Sundance Channel?? Looking forward to the next film. Maybe my music could be of service?" Sammy Hagar

"…yeah, pretty cool- like an underground movie....actually pretty damn awesome, the more I think about it the more it blows me away. Obviously a lot of work went into it...” Robby Krieger (The Doors)--watched it with toothache

“I saw it and I didn't like it. I considered it harassment that you sent it to my home address multiple times - these things are usually sent to agents. It creeped me out to receive this type of mail at home - I try to keep my home address as private as possible. I didn't like the movie and I didn't like your wise-ass letter. I'm a supporter of independent and cult films being in many of them myself. This marketing approach is going to hurt you in this town, not help you. I'm pissed off. Knock it off and please do not respond to this e-mail.” Jim Belushi

I'm calling on behalf of Mr. William Asher who has received 3 copies of your RIDICULOUS REPULSIVE movie. Please don't send anymore DVD's, we do not want them! Thank you very much for leaving us alone!!" William Asher (Director of Bad News Bears, Private Benjamin, etc.)

Henry Barnes - Amps for Christ

Barnes has been building stringed instruments, pre-amps and amplifiers of an experimental nature for many moons and used them while in the hardcore/noise band Man Is The Bastard (MITB). Barnes and Connell (drums of MITB) started a side band called Two Ambiguous Figures with Barnes playing sitar and Connell on the tablas. It evolved into AFC, after Barnes' amicable departure from MITB in 1996. Since '92, Barnes has also been working with Wood --and sometimes Nelson-- on another side band called Bastard Noise.

Amps For Christ has strong elements of pure noise and experimental throughout. Back in 1996, Barnes met Enid Snarb who is a recording freak and preparer of Hammonds. They started recording AFC. There have been many collaborators and the line-up is ever changing...

Claremont, California is home base. Barnes got his first axe at The Folk Music Center in Claremont during the brief period when it was across the street from where it is now. His mom is a folklorist and traditional ballad singer and has been very influential on his traditional side from early childhood on. Barnes' dad was into John Cage and Harry Partch and had an early jazz band for which he was songwriter, washboardist and singer for many decades. Barnes Grandma (Lita) was the organist at a church and taught piano lessons at home in San Bernardino, California. So you see some of the eclectic influences, eclectic desires and reasons for the eclectic sounds of Amps For Christ.

MIKE TAMBURO

www.miketamburo.com

Mike Tamburo was born in 1977 in New Kensington, PA. When he was 15 months old he was diagnosed with Otitis Media. His ears had filled with fluid and he was unable to hear correctly for several months. Ear specialists and surgery introduced Mike to the world of test tones and perceptual challenges. A musician from a very young age, Tamburo is an accomplished guitarist, performing primarily on the acoustic guitar informed by his love for visual art and extensive studies of 20th century composition. In the late 90s Mike founded the band Arco Flute Foundation with Pete Spynda, Matt McDowell, Rob Dingman, and Jeff Komara. In 1996 he also formed Meisha with Ken Camden and Pete Spynda. Both bands recorded and released a number of records and toured extensively before eventually breaking up, leaving Mike to pursue his now thriving solo career. Currently Mike tours the world obsessively in support of his impressive debut Beating of the Rewound Son, released in 2005 on the Music Fellowship label to much critical acclaim. He now performs alone and is always recording, painting, making films and videos, listening to music, studying Enthobotany, thinking or watching television. "Beating of the Rewound Son is a beautiful album that is just as comfortable exploring sun-drenched houses in the country as it is empty warehouses sitting along a polluted river, and it is the discoveries you can find here that which makes the album so rewarding." —Brainwashed "In a musical climate that seems hungry for acoustic guitarists who aren't afraid to veer from the beaten path (see continued reverence of Fahey, the emergence of Basho-Junghans into the American consciousness, and the exaltation with which Sir Richard Bishop's last disc was received), Mike Tamburo, in Beating of the Rewound Son, has made an intelligent and impressive debut." — Fake Jazz
