CABINET OF CURIOSITIES

Oddly familiar yet completely original, CABINET OF CURIOSITIES strikes a sentimental note even in the most hardened listener. Trey Brinkley’s classical yet innovative piano creates a magical background for Evelyne Bennu’s sultry and sexy vocals. The mood is Cabaret, in its purest and most lyrical form. Dressed in doll-like garb and exuding a feeling from a place which could have been in the past yet definitely belongs to the now, this duo weaves a strange and comfortable atmosphere for the ear as well as the eye. Galatea, the double bass, takes a life of its own in the hands of Bennu as she resonates deep tones to punctuate Waltzes, Tangos, Bossa-novas, Blues and other, not so definable yet wondrous pieces that will leave an indelible impression of a new yet colorful landscape where people who look like antique dolls sing and play songs about the world and its troubles, of love and of the human condition.

DEMOCRI$Y

DEMOCRI$Y isn't just a political commentary, it's also a 4-man improvised, experimental music/noise ensemble.

We don't write songs, we just manipulate sound sources. We combine experimental vocals with digital and analog instruments and tools to create dark, heavy sound montages ranging from exploding, brutal noise to progressive IDM breaks to minimalist ambience and drones and anywhere else we wander. Our sound is influenced by experimental, grindcore, noise, avant-garde, ambient, progressive electronic music and beyond. When we play it's not unusual to hear a live drummer battling it out with a drum machine or a chorus of non-melodic vocals.

We are also politically progressive and our imagery is often critical of overextended power. We don't preach, we just have fun while raising consciousness. Interpret to your own benefit.

We are interested in networking with other bands (or specialty acts) to book joint gigs and strategize for world domination. If you would like to book us to play your event or venue we'll be happy to oblige your sick fantasy. Just e-mail us.

SOUNDS LIKE: Avant, post-grind vocals over noxious, experimental, improvised, dark, brooding and often harsh, aggressive soundscapes based from digital and analag electronics, acoustic instruments, contact and traditional mics, possible tape loops or toys or any other soundmaking devices which we can manipulate creatively to produce original results. HOP-FROG’S DRUM JESTER DEVOTIONAL

Hop-frog’s drum jester devotional is the brainchild of one of the founding members of the hop-frog kollectiv, e.loi, aka Jeremy Morelock and features core members of the hop-frog kollectiv. Fresh off their European Tour DJD is sure to send you into a trance w/ their midi-eastern, oriental broken beats mixed with post punk and dub. Don’t know what I mean? Just Listen www.myspace.com/hopfrogsdr...rdevotional

The hop-frog kollectiv have performed with Not Breathing, DJ Cheb I Sabbah, David J (Bauhaus, Love & Rockets, etc.), Steve Mackay and The Radon Ensemble (The Stooges, Violent Femmes), Dalek & Dame Darcy (Meatcake).

hop-frog have not only toured with Backworld (feat. Joe Budenholzer of Current 93, Foetus, etc.) and Sorrow (featuring Rose McDowall of Strawberry Switchblade, Spell, Current 93, Death In June and Coil) on two separate occasions but members of hop-frog have played in both of these projects for the duration of the tours.

The live performances are especially intriguing featuring heavily effected traditional western instruments such as clarinet, violin, guitar, drums, analog and bass fused with eastern, tribal, toy and non-traditional instruments such as the saz, toy & real accordions, circuit bent keyboards, snake charmer flutes, christmas tree bells, the Dhol, broken cymbals and even a kitchen sink. hop-frog have performed on several occasions in Paris, France, all over Europe and all over the western U.S.
